A note on the project
ARCHIVE—22 is a design history site created by Maya Bhatia, an aspiring design student. It functions as a working reference for major movements in design history, covering architecture, furniture, and graphic design.
Each entry focuses on a single movement, among them Bauhaus, Mid-Century Modern, Swiss Style, Brutalism, Art Deco, Memphis, Minimalism, and Postmodernism. Entries cover a movement's historical origins and defining visual characteristics, along with the designers most associated with it and where its influence still shows up today.
The project began as a way to study design history more closely while developing a personal design practice. ARCHIVE—22 approaches these movements as ideas that keep resurfacing in different forms, still shaping design choices in today's world.
New entries are added periodically as research continues.
Worked on set production design for King, an upcoming film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Anil Kapoor. Designed and fabricated custom props and supported on-set continuity under active shooting conditions.
Assisted with gallery operations during the Art Mumbai fair, engaging with visitors and buyers and helping guide them through the artworks on display. Supported the sales process across the three-day event.
Supported the design team across multiple residential projects, contributing to presentation materials, material and finish selection, and coordination with contractors and vendors on site.
Hosts a podcast exploring interior design through conversations with industry professionals. Guests include Pravir Sethi, Sonali Ashar, Malvika Sen, and Arjun Malik.
Designed child-friendly wallpaper for prison creches in Kalyan and Byculla, Mumbai, aimed at creating a more positive environment for children. Coordinated with a printing agency on production and supervised installation.
